The leather is cut using a plough gauge and head knife , the strips of leather are then trimmed to length. < cutting strips of hide |

All edges of the pieces are bevelled using an edge shave. < bevelling the edges |

When required the surface edges can have fine lines applied to enhance the overall appearance < engraving the leather |

The pieces to be stitched are placed in the jaws of a ‘saddlers clam’, pierced with a sharp awl, then by means of the ‘anti run’ twin needle method are stitched together using strong, beeswaxed linen thread. < waxing the thread |
